West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust selects Data Migration Experts Stalis
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust selects Data Migration Experts Stalis to enable a quality assured Data Migration from iEXPRESS PAS to Cerner Millennium.
Liam McLaughlin, IT Systems Development and Integration Manager at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, said;
“I was probably of the opinion that we could do the data migration ourselves until we started to see the work that various suppliers had put into tools to support data migration. This, together with a recommendation from our EPR supplier that we use a third party, helped confirm the need to bring in outside expertise.
Having worked with Stalis for some 6 months now, I would describe what they bring as follows:
– Structure – they have a process for doing this based on many previous data migrations
– Tools – their offering revolves around a whole set of tools for extracting data, mapping it, reporting on the quality of the data and then exporting the data in the required format
– Knowledge and expertise – they bring a wealth of knowledge of other migrations and lessons learnt that is invaluable..
I appreciate it can be difficult to identify the funds to support this sort of work but I can now see that we could not have done it to the quality we are seeking without their support. Interestingly we were recently told of the 61 checks that their tools make on just our next of kin data quality. This extends to over 5000 checks for the PMI alone. We simply could not have developed such extensive checks ourselves.
It may sound a bit clichéd, but it’s hard to imagine how we would have got to where we are today without Stalis”.
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust commissioned Stalis to provide their tried and tested data migration tools and services, to support a safe and timely project migrating Trust data from their existing iEXPRESS PAS to Cerner Millennium.
Based on Stalis’ robust and secure CareXML® platform, the project includes the migration of PAS, A&E, Alerts and RTT data from the existing iEXPRESS system into Cerner Millennium. Data will also be migrated from other legacy systems including Medifusion and EPRO.
Stalis will provide a secure and accessible historic archive of non-migrated data meaning minimal data transfer which will further mitigate risks and timescales. Stalis will also provide data quality assessment and strategies for cleansing as well as trial load and Go Live support.
The CareXML platform supports heath informatics professionals through the highly complex process of extracting, cleansing, transforming and exporting data from any healthcare application onto the new system whilst eliminating any duplicate records.
Nick McDonnell CIO at West Suffolk said:
“We were relieved to discover that Stalis had the skills and services to support us for our transformation to Millennium. Appointing them gave the project team and the Trust, confidence that we were in safe hands. Their experience is already showing through – assisting us with data migration strategy decisions that are both practical and meet the requirements of the organisation and the project. We are confident that we have chosen the right data migration partners.’’
Andrew Meiner, Managing Director at Stalis said:
‘’Stalis are really pleased to be able to support West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and further establish ourselves as the market leader in NHS data migrations.
Our extensive expertise and experience in healthcare means we provide NHS organisations with confidence that their staff are working from the best and most complete information, whether they are clinicians making decisions about patient care, managers monitoring performance against contracts, or service improvement managers investing in reorganisation and change management. ‘’
